The baby still hasn’t been taken out of me.  Some mornings they talk as if he will be imminently other days they talk about occasions where I will still be pregnant in a few days or weeks.  It is hard to know how to think ahead.  Just got to take it a day at a time.  Somehow I don’t believe anyone will ever make the decision but I suppose it will be done some day.

Went in to the GP surgery this morning to get my whooping cough vaccine which is recommended to all pregnant women after 28 weeks in order to pass on immunity to protect newborn babies. Having had whooping cough myself twice I was pleased to be vaccinated, it is a nasty illness and would be very dangerous for a baby. It stung a bit, but not too bad.

Got to the hospital for monitoring today at 10am (as they told me to) and was seen within half an hour, which is great and much much quicker than usual. However, still ended up being there for five and a half hours. I was bored stupid.

Honestly I lose track, it is so repetitive and they tell me very little. For whatever reason this time they wanted me to wait and see a doctor, and the doctor wanted to run their plan past their superior. It all took ages with a lot of waiting.

I had a routine appointment with the obstetric Consultant today, following up on my nausea.

The husband came with me, to protect me from it all. I’m overwhelmed and needed the support.

Arrived for a 9.45am appointment and waited a little while, then saw a nurse to give a urine sample and check blood pressure and fetal heart rate. Then waited a little while longer to see the doctor.

It wasn’t a doctor I’d seen before but she was very nice.

I had been told to attend obstetric triage at 11am today to have my blood pressure monitored.

Arrived on time, and waited in the waiting room for an hour.

All has been quite uneventful since I was let out of the hospital yesterday.  Came home, let myself have a day off work and spent most of it asleep, started taking the new blood pressure drugs.  These are Labetalol – 100mg twice a day.  I have to go in and get monitored again on Friday to check they are doing their job.  I’ve felt fine, well actually I’ve had a really itchy head but I don’t know if that is related or not.

Something really pissed me off though.  When I got my notes back along with my discharge information and letter to my GP it all said I was to stop taking one of my two anti nausea medications (metaclorpramide).  No word on why, no mention of this to me.

I didn’t get a huge amount of sleep in the hospital. Several reasons. One was that I had to have my blood pressure taken at 12.15am, then 4am, then they woke us up at 7.15am. Another was that I was on a mixed antenatal and postnatal ward and two of the women had newborn babies in with them so there was a bit of baby crying. Mainly though, it was just very light. And not as comfortable as my own bed.

I had to ask for some anti nausea medication, as I hadn’t taken mine with me.

After having had my blood pressure monitored at the hospital on Friday and being sent away and declared OK, the midwife from my home monitoring trial wanted to check in with me again today. I did my readings and she called me about 4.30pm and said she’d like me to go into the hospital to get monitored again.

I had a dentist appointment at 5pm, so we agreed I’d go to the dentist then straight up to the hospital. Dentist was uneventful. Good.

I arrived at the hospital about 6.30pm and this time didn’t even need to wait in the waiting room so the tests were done within the hour. Blood pressure, urine dip, fetal heartrate and some blood tests.

I just had to wait for a doctor to look at the results.

My midwife called the Consultant on Monday and got me an appointment within 48 hours of her call.  Easy.  Do not even get me started on what a massive difference it would have made to my life if this had happened nine weeks ago when my GP sent me to triage, or seven weeks ago when my first midwife told me to try some ginger… I remain oh so very angry about the decimating effect that this has unnecessarily had on my life.  So so so let down.

Today marks the ceremonial last insertion of an IVF pessary.

I’ve been taking IVF drugs (2 x progesterone pessaries and 4 x HRT tablets) for many months now, with HRT since 27th September and progesterone since 12th October.

Today is 49 days after embryo transfer which is finally time to stop taking all that.
